Passport presentation & copy
Foreign guests who do not have an address in Japan are asked to provide their nationality and passport number, present their passport, and provide a copy. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Details in the guest register
The guest register records each guest’s name, address, occupation, and dates of stay. Nationality and passport number are also recorded for foreign guests who do not have an address in Japan.
Keeping the guest register
Article 7 of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Private Lodging Business Act requires an accurate guest register, retained for three years from its creation at the registered house or the operator’s office. Electronic records may be used if they can be clearly printed when needed.
